Language notes:
- A speed limit is the maximum speed you can drive at. Speeding means 'driving too fast,' ie over the speed limit.
- A driving licence (US: driver's license) is the document that says you have the permission to drive.
- A seatbelt (US: safety belt) is/are the strap(s) across your body that protect(s) you if you have a car crash. You wear/do up/fasten/take off/undo a seatbelt.
- A one-way street is a street where you are only allowed to drive in one directtion. When there are many one-way streets in an area, it's called a one-way system.
- A motorway (US: superhighway/interstate) is a very fast road between cities.
- Traffic lights show red, yellow, and green lights to indicate whether cars should move or stop. NB Street lights are different (the lights that help drivrs or pedestrians to see at night).
- A no-parking zone is an area where parking is not permitted.
- A speed trap is a place where the police use photographic or rader equipment to catch speeding motorists.
- A speeding fine is the money that you must pay if you are caught speeding.
- A parking meter is a small machine, usually on the side of a street, that takes money and shows the time you can park for.
- A steering wheel is the wheel a driver turns in order to turn a car.
